For the past 20 years, I’ve devoted my career to supporting individuals navigating through the complexities of mental health. My first experience was in the role of a parent trainer and advocate for children and families in the foster care system. From there, I spent a decade as a lead therapist and program manager in the behavioral health hospital system. My passion lies in assisting clients grappling with depression, anxiety, trauma, and relationship or parenting concerns. My approach as a therapist is deeply rooted in a variety of therapeutic modalities. Trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), I utilize this powerful technique with components of Mindful Self-Compassion, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotional Focus Therapy and Family of Origin. This allows for a tailored, holistic journey toward healing and growth, respecting each client’s unique narrative.
Beyond my education and training as a Licensed Professional Counselor, I’m also a Sex Therapist. Integrating these specialized skills into relationship and marriage counseling adds a profound dimension to the therapeutic process. I believe that discovering and talking about individual and shared sexuality is a crucial aspect of healthy living.
I have raised four biological children, who are all successful, happy young adults. I have been remarried for three years now; I live with my husband and three stepsons who are in their teens. I feel that my own personal experiences as a former military wife of 22 years and my current experience in a second marriage/blended family help shape my perspective and ability to relate to clients from a diverse background. I’m fervent about continual learning, remaining at the forefront of advancements in counseling and therapy. Together, with the help of my animal assisted therapy dog, Peaches, I aim to create a safe and compassionate space where clients can explore, heal, and rediscover their resilience. I’m dedicated to nurturing healthier relationships and empowering individuals to navigate life’s challenges with confidence and clarity.
