Kari Knott
My love and passion for helping others with mental illness began 20 years ago when I was a foster parent, caring for children who had experienced significant trauma. Since that time, I have dedicated my career to helping others find hope and healing. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with the State of Texas, and received my Masters in Counseling through Wayland Baptist University.
I have a diverse background, having worked as a parenting instructor, family conflict specialist, adolescent unit director in behavioral health hospitals, and provide psychotherapy/marriage counseling in private practice settings. I am an eclectic therapist who is trained in EMDR, and draw on multiple other therapeutic approaches to include CBT, Solution Focused Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy and Gottman Marriage Therapy.
In addition to my work experience as a counselor, my cultural background, life experiences and personality brings fresh energy and ability to provide a safe place to help foster healing and growth. I am a straight-forward, passionate, assertive, compassionate and perceptive counselor. These are deep rooted values that were cultivated as a child who was raised in Alaska, spent 22 years as a military wife, living all throughout the world and raising my four children.
My goal is to build a trusting relationship with the adolescents, adults and couples I work with so they can feel heard and empowered to make small steps towards positive changes in their lives.
